Today in class, Brittany from 4-H came in to talk to our class about her job and work history. She went through undergrad, and then grad school, and also interned at Disney. She then started working with 4-H. 4-H deals with youth, while other departments of the extension deal with agriculture and family and consumer sciences. Within youth development, they work on expanding different skills such as fashion, agriculture, and leadership. I think 4-H is great with skills development for younger kids to prepare them for their careers as adults.

Today we went to the community gardens, and Dr. Holben explained to us where our groups plots are and how the paths to the plots will work. We also discussed the restrictions we have like fertilizer and fence height. I think it is also cool that there is a community shed that we can use filled with tools and equipment to help grow our gardens. Also, any weeds or twigs we don't need get composted in a pile. We don't waste anything at the garden! I'm also excited to talk to Dr. Holben about helping at the garden over the summer. It would be such a great learning experience.
